Dil Mein Mere Dard-E-Disco

Dil Mein Mere Dard-E-Disco

02:37 am.  I woke up with excruciating pain near my right chest. It felt immense. I checked my air conditioner. 16 Degree Celsius it displayed. But, I could feel sweat dripping from my forehead. Random thoughts crossed my mind. It made me sweat profusely. I tried to turn my side and sleep again. But, I couldn’t. Pain was still persistent. I wanted to google my symptoms, but as usual, my phone’s battery was dead. I was shit scared by now.

This doesn’t look good now, I thought. I have to wake my parents, before this gets worse.  I got down from my bed, and tried to walk. My feet were trembling; I had never felt so weak before.

Dad! Dad! I shouted. Take me to the hospital as soon as possible. I am having heart attack.

How many times I have told you to get fit! You broke a chair when you tried to sit a few days back and now…  Ok get in the car fast”.

At least I escaped a lecture from my dad this time, but my mind played the same thought again and again.

“I don’t want to die virgin!”

We reached the nearest hospital.  I requested to call for a stretcher. And, I was taken to the cardio department. This looked scary. The attendant bought few electrodes with him, took off my shirt and applied some gel on my chest.

“I have seen such things in films, said a voice in my mind”.

The attendant attached the electrodes on my chest.

“They are going to give me a shock now!”

I prepared my mind for this procedure
But luckily I was proved wrong, and I was not electrocuted.  The doctor was studying my ECG graph. I tried to study that too.  And for the first time I felt that studying for CA is better than observing these dancing “P”, “Q”, “R”, “S” waves. I wonder now, how I know that these ways are called “P”, “Q”, “R”, “S” waves. Maybe I should have really gone for IIT and then for MBBS. But it was irrelevant now.

After careful observation, those electrodes were taken off my body. I wore my shirt again and was told to wait outside.
My dad looked tense. “You are going to go for jogging from tomorrow. I don’t want to see you at home in the evening….”
We were called in again by the attendant. The doctor was scribbling something and maintained an acute expression.

This doesn’t look good I thought again. I made up my mind to undergo a surgery.

The doctor asked if the pain was still there. I didn’t respond. He asked again with a stern voice. But, I was not listening. I was lost in my own world, but was brought back to my senses when my dad shouted.

“I can’t move my muscle” I said.

“Ok, you need to take these medicines. You wait outside, meanwhile I will explain to your dad”

The wait outside seemed like ages. What could have possibly gone wrong with me? I wondered.

Dad finally came out and handed me the prescription given by doctor. The file had also mentioned about the cause for the chest pain.

I took the file, fearing the worst.

It read:
"Name of the patient: Tej Kumar"

 "Age: 24"

 "Weight: 2 short of century"

“Pain caused due to muscle sprain”

“Medicine: Iodex and PanD(for Acidity)

“Remedy: Exercise and weight loss”

I was left speechless and I hoped I won’t break a chair due to my weight.
